The Murfatlar-Medgidia vineyards belong to the Dobrudja region situated in the South-East part of Romania, nearby the Black Sea coast. The relief of this area made up of hills and fields presents good conditions for viticulture; there is plenty of heat and light and the soil is well-structured and fertile. Rainfalls are in no way excessive, which is one of the conditions for obtaining high-quality wines. The plantations are situated between the sea and the Danube River, which has a favourable effect especially in autumn time when it plays the part of a thermic regulator. The soil, which is formed upon a bed of shelly limestone and rich in calcium carbonate, is a very important factor in the quality of the wine.
