The Dealu Mare vineyards make up the most compact Romanian viticultural area (about 14,500 hectares): it is a region where the heart of Romanian viticulture beats stronger than anywhere else in our country. Dealu Mare is the homeland of red wines, where the red grapes found those suitable conditions that would stimulate their qualities. A number of factors are responsible for this: the plantations stretch over hill-slopes facing the light and heat of the sun and looking south and south-east, the temperature is higher during the period of vegetation of the vines, the rain do not fall in excess, the soils are not very rich and contain a high level of iron oxides.
